If you move to Eindhoven with children, the school place is often the first thing that is fixed, and the home follows. The four international school locations in the city sit in very different surroundings. Around SALTO's I-St@rt campus in Meerhoven, 43 percent of households have children, against 26 percent in Eindhoven as a whole. Around the main campus of the International School Eindhoven, fewer than 700 people live within 1.5 km.
The four international school locations, and what lies within 2 km
The schools and what they offer come from their own websites, checked in September 2026: ISE's main campus houses the Primary International Department and the Secondary Department (IB Middle Years and Diploma); its bilingual primary offers a Dutch primary curriculum with about 30 percent of lessons in English; SALTO International School offers bilingual primary education for ages 4 to 12, half in English and half in Dutch, on two campuses. For each location we took every neighbourhood whose centre lies within 2 km in a straight line and added up its official open data: residents, the share of households with children and the average WOZ home value, weighted by the number of homes.

For comparison, the average home in Eindhoven is valued at about €391k. Just outside the city, Sondervick International School in Veldhoven offers IB Middle Years for ages 11.5 to 17. Admission rules and waiting lists differ per school, so check them with the school before you shortlist a neighbourhood.
ISE's main campus sits on the edge of the city, with few homes nearby
The main campus at Oirschotsedijk lies about 4 km north-west of the city centre, and few people live close to it: the neighbourhoods within 1.5 km have about 610 residents between them. The nearest larger residential areas start about 1.6 km away: Zwaanstraat, a small area of houses valued at about €679k where 55 percent of households have children, and Drents Dorp and Lievendaal, where most homes are rented, 80 and 65 percent.
Within 2 km live about 20,000 people. That circle also reaches Bosrijk and Zandrijk in Meerhoven, each about 2 km from the campus, so a home in that part of Meerhoven is within reach of both ISE's main campus and SALTO's I-St@rt.
Meerhoven, around SALTO I-St@rt, has the most families in Eindhoven
Of Eindhoven's 20 districts, Meerhoven has both the highest share of households with children, 46 percent, and the highest average home value, about €533k. Within it, Waterrijk and Grasrijk reach 57 and 50 percent. It registered 9.8 safety crimes per 1,000 residents in 2024, against 13.0 for the city.
The trade-off is the price and the location. Homes around I-St@rt average about €494k, well above the city average. Meerhoven lies on the west side, next to Eindhoven Airport, and its residential neighbourhoods are 4.4 to 5.7 km from Eindhoven Centraal station in a straight line.
Near the two central schools, more homes are flats and fewer households have children
ISE's bilingual primary in Rozenknopje sits about 1.4 km south of the centre. About 62,000 people live within 2 km, almost four times as many as around I-St@rt, but only 18 percent of households have children and homes average about €379k. Just 42 percent of the homes in that circle are single-family houses, against 58 percent in the whole city and 73 percent around I-St@rt. The school's own neighbourhood, Schrijversbuurt, is pricier, at about €507k.
SALTO's RISE campus in Doornakkers, about 2 km east of the centre, has similar surroundings, with 52 percent single-family houses, about 21 percent families and €382k within 2 km. Doornakkers itself registers 6.4 safety crimes per 1,000 residents, about half the city rate. Nearby Tongelresche Akkers is 84 percent single-family houses, and 51 percent of its households have children.
What a distance on the map does and does not tell you
All distances here are in a straight line from the school to the centre of each neighbourhood. The route by bike or bus can be longer, especially where a canal, railway or ring road sits in between.
